Ford has been the UK's best-selling car brand for decades. If you financed a Ford Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, or any other Ford model through Ford Motor Credit between 2007 and 2021, you may be owed compensation for undisclosed dealer commission.

Ford Motor Credit Company (operating in the UK as Ford Credit) is the captive finance arm of Ford Motor Company. It provides PCP and HP finance exclusively through the Ford dealership network for Ford brand vehicles — making it one of the highest-volume motor finance providers in the UK given Ford's perennial status as the country's best-selling car brand.
Between April 2007 and November 2021, Ford Motor Credit operated discretionary commission arrangements (DCAs) in common with the rest of the industry. Under this system, Ford dealerships could set the interest rate applied to your finance agreement within permitted limits — and earned higher commission the higher the rate was set. This conflict of interest was not disclosed to customers.
The FCA's industry-wide review covers Ford Motor Credit, and the Supreme Court's November 2024 ruling confirms that affected customers are entitled to claim back overpaid commission. Given Ford's market share, millions of UK consumers may have qualifying Ford Credit agreements.
Ford Motor Credit is a "captive lender" — a finance company owned by the vehicle manufacturer (Ford Motor Company). The FCA is currently considering whether captive finance arms should be treated differently from independent lenders in the redress scheme. While no exemption has been granted, and captive lenders remain under the FCA's full review, this is an evolving area. We recommend registering your interest now so that your claim is in the queue regardless of the final outcome. Our legal partner monitors all FCA developments and will advise if the rules change.
